 Overcoming Tail-Ender’s to Animal Communication

Most anyone who knows anything about animals knows what a tail is, but what is a tail-ender?  And what does it have to do with animal communication?  Here is a simple definition:

A tail-ender is an unconscious, automatic, often unrecognized inner reservation.  It often accompanies an affirmation: a “Yes, but…” which blocks the effectiveness of the affirmation.  It is the Doubting Thomas in your head.

Tail-enders end

Put an end to tail-enders

If you have tried to communicate with your animal companion, you may have caught yourself saying something like; I want to communicate with my dog, but (here comes the tail-ender) how will I know if I am really getting or receiving the right message?  There may be a whole list of tail-ending thoughts that go with that impulse to connect.  See if you recognize any of these thought patterns.

  • You can’t do that!
  • Who do you think you are?
  • This is impossible.
  • I am not that intuitive.
  • This is stupid.
  • What a crazy idea.
  • Animals are not that smart.
  • Don’t try to do the impossible.
  • You are going to fail and you know how that makes you feel!
  • My dog is not responding therefor I must be doing it wrong.
  • I don’t know what I am doing?

In a split second, we put a “spin” on our heart-felt intention to understand each other in an empathetic way.  Your doubts or fears are telling you to STOP.  In the confusion of the conflicting message that is exactly what may happen, you give-up.   Your unconscious mind is running the show and creating limitations that may not necessarily be there.

Your dog or cat is likely aware of your attempts and failures at communicating.  To help you overcome tail-enders, I have come up with three things you can do:

  • Before you begin to communicate, be aware your unconscious mind may have some judgments or opinions.  Make a mental note of what those hidden voices are telling you.  Bring them into the conscious mind, where they have less power and influence on your actions and behaviors
  •  Expand on this yes/no conflict allowing your opposing thoughts to surface.  You can make a list of the thought and the opposing thought.  For instance, if your catch your unconscious mind saying, “you cannot do this, this is a waste of time” you can counter the thought by saying,” I can do this, and I have all the time in the world to learn how”.   Giving a voice to this inner conflict, allows the unconscious mind to relax or release its hold.  The tail-enders can be neutralized and the clarity about what your animal companion is telling is possible.
  •  Use EFT or Tapping to neutralize the tail-ending messages from your unconscious.  Alternate between the yes/no messages as you tap on your bodies meridians.  You can get more information about EFT or tapping from the Tapping Solution and watch a video showing you where the tapping points are.
